Description

Season: September - October

Location: Takila Lhakhang, Lhuntse

Takila is one of the most sacred historical and religiously significant places in eastern Bhutanese town of Lhuentse. Several important festivals of nearby communities take place at Takila, where the largest statue of Guru Rinpoche is situated.

Chha is celebrated to welcome Byul Lha and to protect any misfortune from happening in the year. This festival is celebrated every year by the people of Phagidoong, Tangmochhu, Kamdhar, Kusumphel, Khaashaling and Takila for four days. Chha is an offering made to local deities and originated from the Bonism tradition. During the festival, people from the six villages gather to make offering to local deities such as Wokhor, Zhelngo, Kharshong, Chhami, Gyem and Lham.
