Established in 2008, Chumey Nature Resort is a mix of traditional architecture and contemporary comfort, situated 5-minute drive along a feeder road off the main highway on the hillside amidst cascading pine trees. Across the resort, one can view the site of Domkhar Tashichholing Palace, home of Bhutan’s second King and the ruins of 17th century Gyalwa Karmapa, Rangjung Rigpe Dorje’s monastery lie further afield. The recently restored Buli Lhakhang, founded by Dorje Lingpa in the 15th century is located across the Valley withTharpaling Goemba perched on the hillside above it. Not far off lies Nimalung Monastery, famed worldwide for its masked dancers, and the cluster of village homes around the noble house at Prakkar. All these treasures lying within walking distance from the resort, giving one ample opportunity to explore the heart of Bhutanese culture and history.
The Resort offers 8 Standard Rooms and 6 Luxury Suites, and all rooms offer stunning view of the Chumey Valley. All rooms and suites feature the finest in-room amenities: concealed heating system, plush and comfortable beds, TV, tea / coffee maker, telephone and modern bath facilities, including tubs in which to soak one's cares away. Suites are equipped with private kitchen and living room too.
A full-service Restaurant in traditional décor’ seats 50 guests and offers variety of Continental, traditional Bhutanese, and local Bumthap cuisine to please any palate. An independent Bar attached with comfortable veranda, perfect for enjoying a romantic sunset at the end of your day can accommodate up to 25 guests and offer range of local and international beverages.
Its mini conference hall is well-equipped to hold small meetings. From elaborately handwoven traditional dress, rustic yak hair textiles, and other locally crafted goods, its Handicrafts shop offers a selection of quality handicrafts produced in Bumthang and beyond.
Guests can relax their mind, body and soul spending a few quiet moments in serene and calm Meditation Room at Padma'i Denzin Lhakhang. This Lhakhang, or monastery, is reputedly the only one in the world dedicated to Nyingmapa masters. It consists of only three clay statues: Longchen Rabjam (1308 - 1363) in the centre, Pema Lingpa (1450 - 1521) and Rigdzin Jigme Lingpa (1730 - 1798) on either side.
Chumey Nature Resort has been licensed to operate the first Amateur Radio Club in Bumthang by the Bhutan Information & Communication Authority, Royal Government of Bhutan, under the user name CNRARC - A50G (Chumey Nature Resort Amateur Radio Club), QTH (Chumey Bumthang, Bhutan) and CQ ZONE - 22, ITU ZONE 41 (Kingdom of Bhutan.) Ham radio aficionados can use this facility to contact friends all over the world from this very remote place in Bhutan.
